Since its inception, I’ve struggled to figure out a good label for Blood of My Blood’s genre. But I think maybe “mystery horror” works? [4/4/2025 update: now I’m going with “magical realist with horror undertones”, haha…]
Now, why does a story have to have a genre label? I certainly don’t create my stories trying to meet genre tropes and expectations. But the thing is that when trying to describe what your story is about to someone trying to decide whether or not they’re interested in it, it’s helpful to be able to point to landmarks they’re familiar with.
Anyway, let’s see what’s going on with Zoe and her mom now. More author’s notes after the panels-
Content Warning: as you might have guessed if you’ve been following the story, there’s going to be a fair amount of blood…
Blood of My Blood is a magical realist graphic short story with horror undertones for everyone searching for their body's "Owner's Manual".

William’s Notes
That’s it, my next comic will be set in the desert with nothing but sand dunes as far as the eye can see!
I challenged myself even further with the settings I designed for this installment. So, the stairwell and the room took a little more time and effort to get the pencils done right, but I feel good about how they came out.
The next installment, Part 6, of Blood of My Blood is the finale! It will take me longer to produce Part 6 than the previous parts took (except Part 1), because it’s going to be a longer segment, like Part 1. There isn’t a good place to split these last pages into two sections, so I’m keeping them together. It should take me a month or so, so hang tight.
But fear not, I’ve got other comics and art I’ve made that I’m excited to share with you in the meantime.
See you all next week-
William
Oh wow - every page a banger! You took it to the next level with this update.
Loving the mom's aesthetic!!
