See You At Short Run On Saturday!
If you’re in Seattle this weekend, swing by Short Run Comix Festival where I’ll be tabling and say hi! The festival is free to attend!
The diagram above shows where you can find me, table I:53, listed under my name, William Chen.
I’ll have physical copies of Phased available to purchase, and a preview booklet of how Blood of My Blood could look in print form once I finish creating all its pages.
Actually, here’s a video showing my handiwork with my first attempt ever hand-saddle-stitching the pages for the preview booklet! I don’t have a long-arm stapler, so I decided to sew the pages together.
It’s amazing how much better comics look in physical printed form compared to viewing on screen. It must be related to how art suddenly looks way better when it’s nicely framed on a wall.
I created this preview booklet to make it easy for Short Run attendees to get a taste of Blood of My Blood without having to pull out their phones and load up my website—with the hope that people like it enough to pull out their phones, load up my website, and subscribe for updates, haha.
But speaking of what that booklet previews…
Blood of My Blood Launched With Part 1
In case you missed it, part 1 of Blood of My Blood just went live yesterday!
You can read it here: 1: A Magic Charm
Based on how creating this first installment went while working a full-time day job, I think I can release new installments roughly monthly. So look forward to that!

I’ve started doing some people sketching on my bus rides to and from work (when I’m not reading). I’m working on developing more stylized depictions of people. I tend toward more realism naturally, so this will be something I’ll need to work at over a long time. I like how my sketches have been turning out, though.
Hope to see you at Short Run and till next,
William
